Oboz and One More Tree: Planting Seeds Today for a Better Future Tomorrow

Publish date

We want to express our gratitude to everyone who joined us earlier this week for our Oboz One More Tree event at Appalachian Outfitters, where you bought and tried on Oboz hiking boots to help others. For each pair of shoes sold at the event, One More Tree planted another tree in Sub-Saharan Africa, where the trees change lives for families and communities. If you tried on a pair of shoes, One More Tree donated seedlings to the same communities. We also had a good group for the wildflower hike at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History on June 8. We’re grateful for all your support – and the families and communities in Sub-Saharan Africa will appreciate your efforts as well!

The purpose behind the partnership between Oboz and One More Tree (part of Trees for the Future) is straightforward: spreading and sustaining the love of the outdoors by preserving our natural resources. Oboz believes shoes should make more than just our feet feel good; as of today, 1,324,881 trees have been planted thanks to Oboz and One More Tree. The number of lives these trees have changed are priceless.

By planting these trees, we reduce C02 in the world and improve biodiversity for various regions in Sub-Saharan Africa. They provide soil rehabilitation, crop shade, windbreaks, food, mudslide control, and even medicine. The value that communities place on these trees is crucial – many families have stated that their children now have futures thanks to these trees giving them an income.

Oboz

Oboz does several things to guarantee nature’s resources aren’t abused: they donate shoes to non-profits and charities; they carbon-offset all employee commuting and travel, the office utility bill, and shoe shipments, thanks to Bonneville Environment Foundation; and they use wind power for 100% of their headquarter offices.

One More Tree by Trees for the Future

Trees for the Future rehabilitates lands and villages, provides education, and works alongside communities and families. These Sub-Saharan African villages are transformed. More than 115 million trees have been planted on countless acres across the globe, giving communities sustainable income, saving lives, offering education, encouraging unity and leadership, and empowering villages.
