Each year, Backpackers Magazine puts on the “Backpackers Get Out More Tour”, teaching outdoor enthusiasts important tips, lessons, and gear advice that could save their lives in the wilderness. This year the tour is coming to Appalachian Outfitters on May 30! You’ll want to be here for this must-attend event of the year.

Spend Time with an Expert

This year’s Get Out More Tour presenter is Randy Propster, who is passionate about the outdoors. As he travels with the tour, Propster spends more than 100 days each year camping, hiking, and backpacking, setting the example of a true outdoors enthusiast. Even better, he uses the opportunity to teach others and share advice, improving their experiences in the outdoors as well.

While on the tour, Propster camps as much as possible. His goal is to find the best backpacking and hiking locations across the US, and he readily accepts recommendations (so send your favorite outdoor destination to him at gom@aimmedia.com). He truly embraces the spirit of Backpackers Magazine and the Get Out More Tour.

Gain Education and Awareness from an Expert

For Propster, the outdoors have the power to change lives. Nature inspires people, connects them to each other and the wilderness, and teaches them valuable lessons about themselves and the world around them. Studies show the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual benefits of connecting with nature, and Propster is excited to share these benefits with more and more people across the US.

This is why Propster is the perfect fit for the Get Out More Tour—bringing greater awareness to the public. By teaching people about the benefits of nature, crucial skills for being in nature, and which equipment is best for safety and comfort, people will gain a greater appreciation for the outdoors. Propster’s presentation will also cover the different backpacking styles and gear that will help people enjoy nature, including important skills and tools they can use to be self-sufficient in the wild.
