Gransfors Bruk Small Forest Axe

I got just a 3 acre little property, I owned for like a month, love it…. Going to get a second to mount in jeep. Just trying to find a convenient way to carry around my property. Straps nicely on backpack for trips.

First of all I’m very glad to support a small business like Appalachian outfitters. And I will definitely shop their website in the future. However only using the axe to cut a 2” or less branch I noticed “what appears to be” a small hairline crack in the handle. Wonder if you can see it in the pictures below. I sent a note to Appalachian to ask if they thought it was a defect - or just a natural feature of the wood. I don’t know and was just asking in case it is something that people more knowledgeable than me would be concerned about. Oddly I didn’t get a response to my email.

I’m not rushing to judgment - and perhaps they will respond. I’m not asking for anything except their good faith assessment.

Anyway - this is my third GB axe and probably not my last.

Quality you would expect from Gransfors and great experience all around shopping from Appalachian. My new go to spot for all things outdoors. Thank you.

Thought about this purchase for several year before pulling the trigger. It’s exceeded my expectations as an all rounder in the bush as well as campsite kindling machine by “choking up” allows precision cutting, splitting and feathering of small material. That said about the working end, I can not overstate the “wow” factor of griping the exquisitely formed handle for the first time. This is a work of art both in form and function. So happy with my purchase!

versatile and can be thrown in a sack when you hit the trail or need to take care of something on your property. I will keep buying these as gifts for as long as I'm alive because the quality is absolutely unmatched.

Very well made, great quality, small axe. I prefer this “camp axe” size over a hatchet for limbing medium / smaller trees. This is definitely not a splitting axe, and only just big enough for two-handed overhead swings. A perfect supplement for my arsenal!

First axe i’ve purchased. I have nothing to compare it to, but after watching a few videos and some practice I started chopping. This axe made the job very easy! Fantastic handle and head.

I got this as a gift for a very fine fella and he stared at the axe more than he stared at me. So needless to say, he loved it! This made me very happy, because I’m fond of him!

In this case you get what you pay for. This axe isn't cheap, but this axe isn't cheap. I'm not sure for the money you can find a better all-around axe. Buy once, cry once. I'm very confident this axe will last my lifetime and will be past down to a surviving family member. And, getting it from Appalachian Outfitters makes it even better. I'm so glad I found this company during my search. I'll keep coming back for more. They have competitive pricing and ship very quickly. For all who are reading this - please support the 'small' guy and stay away from the big box and big online stores whenever possible. If you receive your product in 4 days instead of 2 does it really matter? If you pay a few dollars more to ship it does it really matter? You will do this country a world of good.

The Gransfors Bruk Small Forest Axe I got a couple weeks ago is awesome! It's better than I imagined. Really high quality product. And it looks cool too! I emailed Appalachian Outfitters the day after I ordered and requested a dark wood handle if possible, and that's exactly what they sent me! Superb handmade axe, razor sharp and comes with a leather sheath. The shipping was fast and well packaged to protect the axe. We purchased this axe for light to medium cutting and splitting firewood while camping. The family enjoys the utility of this axe and we know it will provide use for many years.

Worth every penny. Came razor sharp with the axe book. The mask left alot to be desired but that's easily replaced. Fantastic craftsmanship.
